Double cherry blossom
Meaning: refinement, gentleness
Yaezakura is the name for cherries with layered, double flowers. The most common variety, Kanzan, carries large deep pink blossoms that hang in clusters. It opens about two weeks after Somei Yoshino, giving a second round of cherry viewing. The salted blossoms floated in cherry tea at Japanese celebrations are usually double cherries like Kanzan.
