Birth flower for April 13
Moss phlox
Meaning: Agreement
In Japanese it is shibazakura, lawn cherry blossom: it creeps along the ground like turf, and each petal has a small notch at the tip, just like a cherry blossom. Native to North America, it keeps its needle-like leaves all year, but in spring the flowers hide them completely. At the Fuji Shibazakura Festival in Yamanashi, hundreds of thousands of plants bloom with Mount Fuji behind them.
