Birth flower for December 21
Winter clematis
Meaning: a beautiful heart
Winter clematis is one of the few clematis that flowers in the cold months, and its leaves stay green all year. The creamy flowers hang like small bells, and in varieties such as Freckles the inside is speckled with red-brown spots. The name cirrhosa refers to tendrils, after the way its leaf stalks curl around supports as it climbs.
