Birth flower for December 15
Poison primrose
Meaning: the beauty of youth
Primula obconica flowers for months, from winter well into spring, which makes it a favorite pot plant. Its unkind nickname comes from primin, a substance in the tiny hairs on its leaves and stems that can give sensitive people an itchy rash. Breeders have since produced primin-free varieties that are much friendlier to handle.
