Birth flower for November 11
Silk floss tree
Meaning: radiant beauty
Taiwan calls it the beauty tree, because in autumn its pink flowers cover the bare crown like a dress. Its bottle-shaped trunk stores water and is studded with cone-shaped prickles. In Argentina it is called palo borracho, the drunken stick, and the silky floss from its pods was once used to stuff pillows.
