Nojigiku
Meaning: truth and a pure heart
Nojigiku is a wild chrysanthemum of western Japan's coasts and is thought to be one of the wild species connected to the origin of cultivated mums. In late autumn it covers seaside cliffs and slopes with white flowers, shrugging off wind and salt spray. Hyogo Prefecture chose it as its prefectural flower, a symbol of the coast's quiet toughness.
