Birth flower for October 26
Double gerbera
Meaning: cheerfulness
Gerberas are named after Traugott Gerber, an eighteenth century German doctor and botanist. The wild Transvaal daisy of South Africa has a single ring of petals, but double forms add several rings of slim inner petals that almost hide the center, making the flower look fluffy. Gerberas rank among the most popular cut flowers in the world.
