Birth flower for October 19
White Japanese anemone
Meaning: fading love, patience
In Japanese it is called shumeigiku, autumn-bright chrysanthemum, and in Kyoto it was so common around Kibune that it was also called Kibune-giku. Despite the name it is an anemone in the buttercup family, and its white petals are really sepals. It came from China long ago and settled into Japanese temple gardens, where it still blooms quietly through autumn.
