Birth flower for October 14
Pompon dahlia
Meaning: Elegance
Dahlias are sorted by flower form, and pompons are the ones whose petals roll inward into tubes along their whole length, making a tight ball no more than about five centimeters across. Larger balls are simply called ball dahlias. The genus is named after the Swedish botanist Anders Dahl, and the dahlia is the national flower of Mexico.
