Birth flower for October 13
English rose
Meaning: Love and beauty
English roses are a group bred by the English rosarian David Austin from the 1960s onward. He crossed old garden roses, with their full cupped and rosette blooms and rich fragrance, with modern roses that flower again and again through the season. His first introduction, 'Constance Spry', appeared in 1961, and hundreds of varieties have followed.
