Aster
Meaning: love, patience and remembrance
Aster comes from the Greek word for "star," a perfect fit for its starry little blooms. A tale in Japan's Konjaku Monogatari tells of two grieving brothers: one planted a daylily to forget their father, the other planted this aster so he would never forget — giving it the meaning "I won't forget you." In Europe, autumn asters are nicknamed Michaelmas daisies for blooming around St Michael's Day in late September.
