Birth flower for September 9
Chrysanthemum
Meaning: nobility and long life
Chrysanthemums have been grown in China for more than two thousand years, where people admired them and drank chrysanthemum wine on the Double Ninth Festival to wish for long life. After reaching Japan they became beloved by the court, and a sixteen-petaled chrysanthemum became the imperial crest — which is why Japan's monarchy is still called the Chrysanthemum Throne.
