Birth flower for August 30
Teddy bear sunflower
Meaning: Adoration
Teddy Bear is a double-flowered sunflower. In an ordinary sunflower the central disk is made of hundreds of tiny tube-shaped florets; in Teddy Bear nearly all of them have turned into petal-like florets, so the whole head becomes a fluffy golden ball, hence the name. It makes very little pollen, sets few seeds, and stays short, which suits pots and vases.
