Birth flower for August 12
Ixora
Meaning: passion, togetherness
In Taiwan, ixora is one of the most common hedge flowers in schoolyards and parks, and many people remember pulling out the tiny flowers as kids to sip the sweet nectar from the tube. Each ball is made of dozens of four-petaled florets on long slender tubes. The name Ixora is said to come from a South Indian name for a deity.
