Heliotrope

Heliotrope

Meaning: devoted love, eagerness

The name comes from Greek for sun and turning, since people believed it followed the sun. Its sweet scent, often compared to vanilla or cherry pie, made it a classic perfume ingredient in Europe. Heliotrope perfume is said to have been the first Western perfume imported into Japan in the Meiji era, and it appears in Natsume Soseki's novel Sanshiro.
