Birth flower for July 21
Golden-rayed lily
Meaning: majesty
The golden-rayed lily is found only in Japan. Each white petal carries a golden stripe down the middle, and its huge, strongly scented flowers earned it the title queen of lilies. It caused a sensation when it reached Europe in 1862 and later became a parent of many garden lilies such as Casa Blanca. It is the prefectural flower of Kanagawa.
