Birth flower for July 18
Daylily
Meaning: Forgetting worries
Hemerocallis means beauty for a day in Greek: each flower lasts just one day, but the buds on a stalk take turns opening for weeks. In China it is called the forget-worry plant and has long been a symbol of mothers. The dried buds, known as golden needles in Taiwan, are a common ingredient in soups and stir-fries.
