Birth flower for June 26
Fuchsia
Meaning: confiding love
The French botanist Charles Plumier named fuchsia around 1700 in honour of the German physician and botanist Leonhart Fuchs. The hanging flowers look like dancers in full skirts. In the wild they are pollinated mainly by hummingbirds, and the berries that follow are edible.
