Birth flower for June 25
Annabelle hydrangea
Meaning: Devoted love
Annabelle is a variety of smooth hydrangea, a North American native. It was found growing wild near the town of Anna, Illinois, in the early 1900s and named after the town. The blooms open lime green, turn snow white, then fade back to green. Unlike bigleaf hydrangeas, its color does not change with soil pH, and it flowers on new wood, so a winter pruning will not cost you next year's blooms.
