Birth flower for April 29
Japanese snowball
Meaning: keep your promise
Its Japanese name means "big temari ball" for the round white clusters. It comes from the wild doublefile viburnum, whose flat clusters have showy flowers only around the edge; here every flower is a sterile showy one, so it sets no fruit and is grown from cuttings. The name plicatum means "folded," for the deeply pleated leaves.
