Dutch iris
Meaning: good news
Dutch irises are bulb irises bred in the Netherlands in the early twentieth century by crossing Spanish iris and related wild species. Their straight stems and neat flowers made them one of the world's most common cut flowers. The name Iris comes from the Greek goddess of the rainbow, a messenger of the gods, which is why irises are often linked with good news.
