Clover
Meaning: Luck, promise
Clover leaves normally come in threes, so the rare four-leaf mutant became a worldwide symbol of luck. Its Japanese name, shirotsumekusa or "white stuffing grass," comes from the Edo period, when dried clover was packed around glassware shipped from the Netherlands as cushioning. In Ireland, the three-leaved shamrock is a beloved national emblem.
