Birth flower for April 5
Bluebell
Meaning: Gratitude, everlasting
Every April and May, English bluebells roll a violet-blue carpet across Britain's ancient woodlands, and roughly half of the world's wild bluebells grow in the UK. Folklore says the ringing of bluebells summons fairies, and that picking them invites fairy mischief. Today the plant is protected by British law: digging it up from the wild or picking it to sell is illegal.
