Birth flower for March 8
Forget-me-not
Meaning: Remember me
A German legend tells of a knight picking flowers for his beloved by a river when the current swept him away; as he sank, he tossed her the posy and cried out "Forget me not!" The botanical name Myosotis means mouse's ear in Greek, after its small fuzzy leaves. The alpine forget-me-not is also the state flower of Alaska.
