Birth flower for March 7
Violet
Meaning: Modesty, faithfulness
This is the sweet violet, the perfumed classic of European gardens. Napoleon loved it so much that when he was exiled he promised to return in violet season, and his supporters used the flower as a secret sign. Its scent contains ionone, which briefly numbs your sense of smell, so the fragrance seems to vanish after a sniff and then magically come back a moment later.
