Birth flower for March 4
Freesia
Meaning: Friendship
Freesias are famous for their sweet, fresh scent, a favourite theme in perfumes and bath products. The genus was named in honour of Friedrich Freese, a 19th-century German physician and botanist. The flowers line up along one side of an arching stem and open one by one from the bottom up, so a single stem keeps going for days.
