Birth flower for February 28
Almond blossom
Meaning: Hope
Almond trees are among the first fruit trees to flower, covering bare branches in white while winter is still hanging on, so they have long stood for hope and awakening. In 1890, in Saint-Remy, Van Gogh painted Almond Blossom, white flowers against a blue sky, to celebrate the birth of his nephew and gave it to his brother Theo's family.
