Birth flower for February 23
Daisy
Meaning: innocence and hope
"Daisy" comes from the Old English for "day's eye," because the flower opens at dawn and closes its petals at dusk like a sleepy eye. European children weave them into daisy chains or pluck the petals one by one — "he loves me, he loves me not." In Japan it is also called enmeigiku, "long-life chrysanthemum," for its long blooming season.
