Primrose

Primrose

Meaning: Young love

Primrose comes from the Latin prima rosa, 'first rose', because it is one of the very first flowers of spring; the Chinese name means 'herald of spring'. In Britain, 19 April is Primrose Day, honoring Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, who loved the flower. In Japan, the wild sakurasou primrose was a craze in the Edo period, when growers bred hundreds of varieties.
