Birth flower for December 7
Double amaryllis
Meaning: radiant beauty
In double forms, many of the stamens have turned into petals, so one flower can carry well over a dozen and looks almost like a rose. The garden amaryllis actually belongs to Hippeastrum, a name meaning knight's star, and is a different plant from the true Amaryllis of South Africa.
