Birth flower for December 2
Christmas rose
Meaning: Relieve my anxiety
This is the true Christmas rose, which in Europe sometimes blooms right around Christmas. Legend says a shepherd girl named Madelon wept because she had no gift for the newborn Jesus, and an angel brushed aside the snow to reveal white flowers where her tears fell. Its Latin name niger, meaning black, refers not to the flower but to its black roots.
