Lion's ear
Meaning: courage
Lion's ear is a member of the mint family whose tall square stems carry ball-shaped tiers of flowers, each a ring of fuzzy, upturned orange tubes. The genus name Leonotis comes from Greek for "lion's ear", describing the flowers. In its native South Africa, the nectar feeds sunbirds and other birds.
