Birth flower for November 13
Saga chrysanthemum
Meaning: Nobility
Saga chrysanthemums are a classical Japanese strain long grown at Daikakuji temple in Saga, Kyoto, said to descend from wild chrysanthemums loved by Emperor Saga. Every thin petal points straight up like a broom or a tea whisk. The temple trains them to about two metres in a seven five three style, seven flowers on top, five in the middle, three below, and shows them each November.
