Birth flower for October 11
Silver osmanthus
Meaning: first love
Silver osmanthus is the white-flowered kind of sweet osmanthus, with ivory to pale yellow flowers and a scent gentler than its golden cousin. In Chinese culture osmanthus is tied to the Mid-Autumn Festival and the moon, where legend says an osmanthus tree grows. In Japan it is less common than the golden form, and its flower meaning is first love.
