Tatarian aster
Meaning: i won't forget you
In the old Japanese tale collection Konjaku Monogatari, two brothers tend their father's grave: one plants a daylily to forget his grief, the other plants this aster so he will never forget. Its root is a traditional Chinese remedy for coughs. In Japan, wild populations have become rare and it is listed as a threatened species.
