Roselle
Meaning: delicate beauty
The red, fleshy part used for tea and jam is the calyx, which swells after the flower fades. It is the key ingredient in most hibiscus tea. In Taiwan its name, luoshen, comes from the sound of roselle and happens to match a legendary river goddess, and Taitung county grows most of the island's crop.
