Birth flower for August 6
Rose of Sharon
Meaning: Gentle persistence
Each rose of Sharon flower opens in the morning and fades by evening, yet the shrub keeps producing new ones all summer long. An ancient Chinese poem compares a beauty's face to this flower. It is the national flower of South Korea, where it is called mugunghwa, the flower that never ends.
