Birth flower for August 4
Tuberose
Meaning: dangerous pleasure
Tuberose smells strongest after nightfall, and in India its name means fragrant at night. Its heady scent is a prized ingredient in fine perfume, and the flowers are woven into garlands in India and leis in Hawaii. The waxy blooms open one after another from the bottom of the spike to the top, so a single stem keeps perfuming a room for days.
