Birth flower for July 30
Spider flower
Meaning: A secret moment
Four upturned petals and long, wiry stamens give the flower its spidery look in English, while in Chinese it is the drunken butterfly and in Japanese the western wind butterfly plant. The blooms usually open in the late afternoon, and by the next day they fade from pink toward white, so one spike shows several shades at once.
