Plumeria
Meaning: New life
Plumeria is named after Charles Plumier, a 17th-century French botanist, and in Chinese it is the "egg flower" for its white petals around a yolk-yellow center. In Hawaii it is the classic lei flower, threaded into fragrant garlands for greetings and goodbyes. In Laos it is the national flower, called dok champa, and is often planted around Buddhist temples.
