Birth flower for June 28
Cup-and-saucer bellflower
Meaning: gratitude
Cup-and-saucer is a form of Canterbury bells in which the calyx under each bell flattens into a colored dish, so every flower looks like a teacup sitting on its saucer. The name Canterbury bells is often said to come from the bells on the horses of pilgrims riding to Canterbury. It is a biennial, growing only leaves in its first year and flowering in its second.
