Birth flower for June 21
Himalayan blue poppy
Meaning: unfathomable charm
Blue poppies grow above 3,000 meters in the Himalaya and are often called the dream blue poppy. In 1924 the British plant hunter Frank Kingdon-Ward collected seed in Tibet, and from there it spread through British gardens. It hates heat and seldom flowers in the lowlands; a close relative is the national flower of Bhutan.
