Birth flower for June 15
Jasmine
Meaning: Grace
Arabian jasmine opens in the evening and smells strongest after dark, so growers pick the buds by day and let them bloom among tea leaves, which soak up the perfume. That is how jasmine tea is made, including Okinawa's sanpin-cha. The Chinese folk song "Mo Li Hua" is famous worldwide and even appears in Puccini's opera Turandot. Jasmine is also the national flower of the Philippines and Indonesia.
