Birth flower for June 11
Agapanthus
Meaning: love letter
Its name blends the Greek agape, "love," and anthos, "flower" — literally the flower of love. Each tall stem bursts into dozens of trumpet-shaped blooms like a firework frozen in mid-air. It's often called lily of the Nile, which is doubly misleading: it isn't a true lily, and it comes from southern Africa, nowhere near the Nile.
