Birth flower for May 29
Catmint
Meaning: carefree love
Catmint leaves contain nepetalactone, the compound that sends many cats rolling and rubbing in bliss, though roughly a third of cats feel nothing at all. Garden catmint is usually a hybrid that forms a soft mound of lilac-blue flowers for months and is busy with bees. The same compound also helps keep mosquitoes away.
