Birth flower for April 19
Snapdragon
Meaning: graciousness, and a chatty heart
Gently squeeze the sides of a snapdragon flower and it opens and shuts like a little mouth — hence the 'dragon' that snaps. Chinese and Japanese speakers saw a plump goldfish instead and named it 'goldfish grass'. Once the flowers fade, the dried seed pods look uncannily like tiny skulls, which has made them a small internet sensation.
