Summer snowflake

Summer snowflake

Meaning: purity

Its genus name Leucojum comes from the Greek for "white violet," and aestivum means "of summer" even though it blooms in spring. In Japan it's called suzuran-suisen, "lily-of-the-valley daffodil," because its leaves look like a daffodil's and its bells like lily of the valley. People often mix it up with snowdrops; the giveaway is six equal petals, each tipped with a green dot.
