Birth flower for March 18
Apricot blossom
Meaning: Timid love
In the Three Kingdoms era, the doctor Dong Feng took no fees. Instead, patients cured of serious illness planted five apricot trees and those with minor ailments planted one. The trees grew into a forest, and "apricot grove" became a Chinese way of saying the medical profession. A handy way to tell apricot from cherry: its red sepals fold sharply backward when the flower opens.
