Birth flower for February 20
Wallflower
Meaning: faithfulness in adversity
Wallflowers earned their name by growing out of cracks in old castle walls and stone ruins across Europe. Their rich, sweet scent made them a garden favorite, and in Victorian flower language they stood for faithfulness in adversity. Later the word also came to describe a shy person standing by the wall at a dance, waiting to be asked.
