Meaning: always cheerful
The ancestors of the potted cineraria are wild daisies from the Canary Islands, crossed for generations by British growers into today's dense florist plant. In Japanese its name sounds a bit like the word for die, so shops usually call it sainerea instead. The Chinese name means melon-leaf daisy, after its big rounded leaves.
